NEW Truro City backer Peter Masters says they are now at the "sharp end" of securing the club's future at Treyew Road.

Speaking this week he said the deal to buy the club and take it out of administration was progressing though there were a number of "external factors" still to be sorted out.

He said "Our number one priority is to secure football at the ground. It could happen in the next 24 hours or in a few weeks."

Mr Masters and son Jason of the L2 nightclub, along with local taxi firm owner Philip Perryman, stepped in at the last moment with a £50,000 bond to the Football Conference, to save the club from liquidation.

And now the trio are working tirelessly to try and complete the takeover of the club and ensure it has a healthy future, after it has lurched from crisis to crisis in recent times.

Mr Masters was heartened by Saturday's crowd of 613 for the 2-1 home defeat against Sutton Utd after last week's appeal for supporters to get behind the club.

Biggest crowd:

It was City's best crowd of the season and the second biggest gate in the league on Saturday.
He said: "It was great to see a lot of new faces and we want them and others to come back for the Hornchurch match this Saturday.

"It has got to be a community club with the clubhouse at its heart."

He said they were putting together a five year business plan and he intended to talk to the Football Conference about the club's transfer embargo which has crippled the club's hopes of avoiding relegation.

And he also intends in due course to issue a definitive statement on the status and ownership of Treyew Road.
