Club Statement - Steve Massey appointed as Head of Football Development

Following the off-pitch appointments at Truro City Football Club, the Board has turned to matters on the pitch with the appointment of Steve Massey as Head of Football Development,  which will embrace the First, Second, Youth and Ladies teams with the emphasis on working with the team managers, whilst attracting the very best players within the county to the Club and developing their skills to play at the highest standard possible.

Truro City Chairman Peter Masters said:

"Steve Massey brings with him the additional football knowledge and experience the Club needs at this decisive time, given the historical problems and the 10-point deduction from both the first and second teams at the beginning of September, 2012, as a penalty for entering Administration.

The reality is that the second team looks secure in its League, being currently positioned out of the drop zone, which is in contrast to the first team which so far this season has won only five of the twenty three games played, lost the last three and are now 16 points adrift at the bottom of the Conference South League (and still would be without the 10 points deduction) with just nineteen games remaining.

Therefore as Chairman it is encumbering on me to take action now and as such it will be Steve's first task to support Lee Hodges as first team manager in every way possible to ensure that we have a squad that is capable of returning to its winning form in an attempt to avoid relegation whilst planning for every eventuality in future. It is still mathematically possible to stay up and anything can happen and even more so when you consider the financial status of one or two other Clubs in this League at this particular time".

Steve Massey will be at his post from Monday 21st January 2013
